Chicken Paprikash Ingredients
- Chicken (separate or different parts) 800 grams - 1 kilogram
- Sour cream 200 grams
- Onions 4-5 pieces
- Garlic 1 clove
- Vegetable oil 2 tablespoons
- Salt to taste
- Ground pepper to taste
- Sweet paprika 1 tablespoon
- Wheat flour 2 tablespoons
- Bay leaf 1 piece
- Greens (parsley) to taste
- Sweet pepper 2-3 pieces (optional)
- Tomatoes (peeled) 1-2 pieces (optional)
- Caraway seeds 1 teaspoon (optional)

Making chicken paprikash:
Step 1: prepare the ingredients.
Peel and rinse the vegetables properly.
Cut whole chicken into pieces on the joints. Rinse and dry with paper towels.
Step 2: fry the chicken.
Heat vegetable oil in a saucepan and send pieces of chicken into it. Fry the meat over high heat from all sides until golden brown. You just need to ensure that the chicken is fried on top, but not cooked from the inside.
Remove the pieces of the bird from the pan and set them aside for the time being covered with a lid.
Step 3: stew the vegetables.
In the remaining oil and fat, fry the onions chopped into small cubes. Add bay leaf and salt to it. Stir all the time until the onions become clear.
Now add the bell pepper sliced in halves or quarters (if you will use it). Also, send finely chopped clove of garlic to the pan. Stir quickly.
Step 4: add the chicken.
Immediately after mixing pepper and onion, return the chicken back to the pan with hot water. Add paprika. And put out everything, making sure that until the meat is softer, there is always plenty of water.
After the chicken is softer, add peeled and chopped tomatoes. And continue to simmer until the chicken is cooked.
Step 5: add the dumplings.
Mix eggs in a bowl with salt and flour so that a dough with a consistency resembling a cream is obtained, that is, it is somewhat thicker than pancake.
Dip the dough into boiling paprikash with a tablespoon in small portions.
Dumplings will be ready very quickly, literally in 2-3 minutes, so add them to an almost ready-made paprikash.
Step 6: add the sour cream.
In a bowl, mix sour cream with flour, adding 3-4 tablespoons water. Pour the sour cream sauce into boiling chicken paprikash and mix.
Step 7: bring chicken paprikas to readiness.
At the end of cooking, add salt and pepper to taste, as well as caraway seeds, if you use it. Sprinkle all chopped greens on top and mix.
Remove the cooked chicken paprikas from the heat.
Step 8: serve chicken paprikash.
Chicken paprikash can be served with any side dish: potatoes, pasta, polenta, rice or mashed potatoes. It turns out very tasty and satisfying in any case. Great home-cooked meal for lunch or dinner for the whole family. Real jam!

- If you cook paprikash in the summer, then feel free to add fresh peppers and tomatoes to it, and if in winter, then it is quite possible to do without vegetables.
